Geeks on Beer : Tripel Perfection : Ommegang Brewery with special guest Yvonne England

Want to watch on your mobile device? [ Direct Link ]

This week, Brad’s gone, but we get an extra special guest to join us .. Producer Yvonne!

We pop open a bottle of Ommegang Tripel Perfection .. that we enjoy with an awesome Peach Cobbler home made by our very own Producer Yvonne.

We talk Belgian Styles, Stephen threatens to go topless, and Yvonne brings the questions, and the ultimate question is discussed, did Jesus make our Peach Cobbler or just some random awesome dude that broke into John’s house?

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, John heads down to Dr. Bill’s kitchen and they enjoy a Meantime London Scotch Ale which Dr. Bill pairs with little lamb chops.

We also talk about the homebrew competition again .. so if that is of interest to you .. check that out.

Oh .. and this weeks B-roll is dedicated to our brother in podcasting from HopCast …. Brad Chmielewski

Geeks on Beer : Off Hand : Iron Fist Brewing with special guest Brandon Sieminski

Want to watch on your mobile device? [ Direct Link ]

This week we head down to Vista, CA and visit Iron Fist Brewery. We hang out in the brewery and talk with Head Brewer Brandon Sieminski.

A young brewery with a young brewer, Iron Fist is brewing up some of the best beers that are on the market right now. After only 7 months, Iron Fist has taken the local San Diego scene by storm. Even Dr. Bill can barely contain his gushing over how much he loves this brewery.

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, we keep the theme going with Iron Fist’s Spice of Life paired with roasted pork, mashed potatoes, & green beans.

Brandon also brings out a unique treat for us to try out … a growler full of Gauntlet ( Iron Fist’s double IPA ) infused with Cherimoya. Cherimoya is a fruit that stays ripe for a brief moment.

Big thanks to Brandon and the whole brewery team for letting us invade and drink beer!

The CBC is all about collaboration and support from your fellow brewers and in that spirit Nebraska Brewing Co and Cigar City make a special announcement on the show.

Meanwhile back at Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, we enjoy a Nebraska Brewing Co. Black Betty with some decadent chocolate cupcakes.

It was great chatting with these two amazing craft breweries and learning about what the future holds for these guys, and I for one, and am excited for that future!

Geeks on Beer : Chimay Blue Grande Reserve : Abbaye Notre Dame de Scourmont

Want to watch on your Mobile Device? [ Direct Link ]

This week we’re back in the studio! YAY! We pop a couple of bottles of Chimay Blue Grande Reserve, which John has never had .. I know, right. SHOCKING. So we pop John’s Chimay Cherry.

We pair this delicious and widely available treat with an old fashioned Pot Roast, that Stephen made by himself … by driving to BJ’s Restaurant and picking it up.

We talk about Trappist beers, and try to name all seven Trappist breweries from memory. We discuss the four type of Chimay and in general really enjoy exploring an old favorite. We also reminisce about some of our favorite beer cooking experiences.

Over in the Batcave, Master Pairings with Dr. Bill takes us down a whole different road, by introducing you to a great pairing of Ballast Point Pale Ale, which isn’t quite a Pale Ale paired with a fabulous Salmon. Stephen learns there is no R in Kolsch.

We also take a few minutes to answer some questions about the upcoming home brew competition.

Until next week, Stay Safe and Drink Beer.

Geeks on Beer : Sink the Bismarck : Brew Dog : with special guest David Summergreene

Want to watch on your mobile device? [ Direct Link ]

This week we Sink The Bismarck with the help of a special guest from Down Under, David Summergreene. David is best known as “The Mule”, as he brings us fresh and delicious Epic Brewing beer on a regular basis.

When he was in town last, we decided we needed to introduce “The Mule” to the rest of you, and since he is a big talker on twitter, what better beer to introduce him with then Brew Dog’s Sink the Bismarck.

We also talk about blending beer in your mouth, give bad love advice but good beer buying advice, and discuss the controversy of the big brew wars.

Over at Master Pairings, Brad joins Dr. Bill, and Bill continues on his breakfast pairings with a Spaten Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse paired up with Banana Pancakes. Dr. Bill gives some Hefe pouring advice, with interesting results, including how to agitate the yeast into the last shot of the beer.

Geeks on Beer : Cream Stout : Packinghouse Brewery : on location with special guest Don McAllister

Want to watch on your mobile device? [ Direct Link ]

This week we head out to Riverside, CA to a newly opened, but completely awesome little brewery called Packinghouse Brewery.

We chat with owner/brewer Don McAllister about starting a brewery, what a Packinghouse is, and how the community of Riverside has responded to having good craft beer in the area.

We drink the Packinghouse Brewery Cream Stout and pair it with what might possibly be the best confections I have ever tasted. McCall’s Confections creates an amazing selection of chocolate dipped toffee candies, that pair amazingly with the Cream Stout.

On Master Pairings we have Cinnamon Toast Crunch .. yeah, the cereal, and instead of milk Dr. Bill breaks out the Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout for fun, crazy and tasty results!

May 20 : Raging Bitch : Flying Dog : on location with Matt Brophy from New Brew Thursday on Vimeo.

Want to watch on your mobile device? Mobile Version Here.

This week we are in Fredrick Maryland, hanging with Matt Brophy, the VP of brewing operations of Flying Dog, and overall awesome dude! We drink Raging Bitch, a Belgian Style IPA, which is amazing, and talk about Hunter S. Thompson & Ralph Steadman and their connection to Flying Dog.

Flying Dog was our first stop on the East Coast road trip we took back in March. We were a little tired when we got there, but as soon as we saw how awesome the brewery was and how cool all the people were there, we perked right up, and got down to doing what we do best.. drinking beer. Raging Bitch has quickly become a favorite for all three of us, and we are grateful for the amazing way that Flying Dog received us and took care of us. Thanks guys!

We took a TON of pictures at the Flying Dog brewery .. check them out here : Flickr

If you haven’t seen Beer Wars, you need to. Check it out on Demand from your cable company, from Netflix, or iTunes. Also, ask your local brewery to stock and sell Beer Wars so that the craft beer community can experience this amazing documentary as well.

Here is Ericks full email :
Hey guys,

Well this is erick or otherwise known as thor13 on the twitter. I will
try to make story short just like me. I recently began drinking craft
beer because, I really did not want to give to much money to the big
three beer makers in America. After having tried some the bigger
market beers like Guinness and Heineken. I thought maybe beer isn’t
for me. I then stumbled upon your podcast through Aric or best known
as phatemokid and began watching the show. At first it I was lost of
what you guys were talking about but, I had the same reaction when I
was watching Gary Vaynerchuk on his show, but you guys were just as
passionate about beer as Gary was about wine. I kept watching and you
guys have made try a few new craft beers when other wise I would have
never even thought about getting one. Thankfully I can say I have
never had a bud light or coors light. I could have honestly given you
how many beers, I have tried on one hand before meeting you guys. Now
I try to promote you guys where ever I go even though I still get lost
when I walk into a place like Bevmo.

Thanks for all that you guy are doing,
Stephen, John, and Brad.

Erick V.
