Geeks on Drinking : Session Beer

This week we, due to popular request, drop into Session Beers. We talk about what constitutes a session beer, is it an actual style, where the name come from, and does darker always mean stronger.

We try out a few delicious examples of Session beers, including Stone / Ballast Point / Kelsy McNair collaboration called San Diego Session, a cellared Bayerischer Bahnhof Liepzig Berliner Weisse from Germany, and Stone’s Levitation.

We also discuss cellaring options for session beers, especially the Berliner Weisse, since the general rule for cellaring beer is about 8% ABV or higher. Dr. Bill let’s you know his rules for cellaring, and what the exceptions to those rules are.

We also shamelessly plug New Brew Thursday & Master Pairings where we pair Stone Levitation with food and Cigars, giving you an all around fabulous set of pairings for this particular beer, which then leads us into a brief discussion of cigars.
