Geeks on Doctor Who : Season 6 : The Curse of the Black Spot

This week we talk about episode 3 of season 6, The Curse of the Black Spot.

Stephen declares it filler, Aric loves it as much as a day at Disneyland, and Janet just hates pirates.

We all bemoan the lack of continuation with the over-arching story of the Silence, and the small child.

We all deal with our realization that Doctor Who is really a family style show, and therefore won’t ever really meet our wildest expectations, but still makes us very giddy each week!

We also speculate about next weeks episode The Doctor’s Wife, and how the title doesn’t mean what we think it means.

Geeks on Doctor Who : Day of the Moon : Season 6

This week, we welcome Janet back, talk Plurk speculation, and round out our discussion of the two-part season premier of Doctor Who with Day of the Moon.

We start off with Janet telling us about her recent trip to London and the Doctor Who Experience, while Stephen and Aric just sit jealously plotting her demise.

Stephen is full of complicated wild theories, Aric & Janet swoon over Rory in a suit and we all ponder the question .. who really shot JR? Oh wait, not that quesiton .. This question, who did River really kill?

We do discuss the Silence and how quickly they fell, Canton and his progressiveness, all things Amy, including the pregnancy, her true feelings for Rory and the Doctor.

We also pontificate on who this little girl is, and what part she has yet to play in the unfolding season, and if the doctor has figured out that he sent himself the invitation ..

So sit back, enjoy the show, and don’t blink!

Geeks on Doctor Who : Season 6 : The Impossible Astronaut

This week we experience the season premier of Doctor Who, The Impossible Astronaut! Janet is still off in London, so we bring in Tom Merritt to help us wrap our heads around the craziness that ensues straight out of the gate!

We discuss the death of the Doctor, and whether thre was any real plot element there, Rory as a main character, River and the changes she’s making, and of course Amy with the bun in the oven.

We also geek out over aliens, Mark Shephard ( who Stephen keeps calling Matt Shephard ) and his older counterpart with the gasoline, and ponder why the writers seem to love creepy children.

So sit back, enjoy the ride and until next week .. don’t blink!

Geeks on Doctor Who : The Companions and Goodbye to Sarah Jane

Early Tuesday morning, April 19, 2011, whovian fans were saddened to hear that Elisabeth Sladen lost her battle with cancer, and passed away. We wanted to take an episode and pay homage not only to Elisabeth Salden and Sarah Jane Smith but to all of the companions of the Doctor. Well, at least the Companions that we can remember. ;)

Janet is in France, so we have a special guest joining us all the way from Australia, David Bryden. You can follow David on twitter over at twitter.com/DaveBinM .

This Saturday we will be watching the premier of Season 6, and immediately following will be recording, and possibly live streaming, an episode of Pandoricast with a very special guest Tom Merritt .. whom you can also follow on twitter over at twitter.com/acedtect

Sarah Jane Smith: No. The universe has to move forward. Pain and loss, they define us as much as happiness or love. Whether it’s a world, or a relationship… Everything has its time. And everything ends.

Goodbye and Godspeed Elisabeth Sladen, we will all miss you!

Geeks on Doctor Who : Torchwood

This week, while we wait for Season 6 to start, we talk Torchwood! We have a habit of divurging into Torchwood when talking Doctor Who anyway so we thought why not devote a whole show to it..

Since we have 3 full seasons to cover this show gets a little long .. but we have a blast discussing the parts we loved, and the parts we hate.

Stephen apparently is in love with naked Rhys, Janet misses Tosh but was not as heartbroken by her death as we were, and Aric decides, post season 3, that he now hates Captain Jack and that he is not the person for the world to turn too in time of crisis.

So join us in a bit of Torchwood talk, and until next week, don’t blink!

Geeks on Doctor Who : Army of Ghosts & Doomsday and a farewell to Rose

This week, Vinita joins us to complete the final two heart wrenching episodes of Season 2 .. Army of Ghosts and Doomsday, and say goodbye to Rose.

We toss out some pretty wild speculation about story arcs going from here to season 5, doctors in multiple universes and talk about how concepts in Sci-Fi routinely cross streams.

We determine that Aric is cold and dead inside, that Jackie is better with alternate universe Pete, and the time spent on the other side has done wonders for Mickie.

We continue to be excited for the premier of Season 6, and decide that next week we may just spend sometime talking about Torchwood while we wait.

Enjoy and until next week, Don’t Blink!

Geeks on Doctor Who :

This week we have a special guest from New Brew Thursday, Brad Kohlenberg, and we dive into Love & Monsters, Fear Her, and an excited, sometime heated, discussion of the season 6 trailer recently released.

Stephen discusses his “meh” viewpoint about the Olympics while everyone else basically says he’s crazy. Janet explains the concept of “Doctor Lite” episodes and why she’s not really a fan, except for Blink. Brad brings the knowledge of the Ood and Aric & Stephen realize they drank the kool-aid.

Enjoy and until next week, don’t Blink!

Geeks on Doctor Who: Gallifrey One : with special guest Teresa (RogueTess)

This week we take a break our recaps and welcome Vinita back on the show, as well as a very special guest, Teresa, better known as RogueTess on the interwebs.

We talk about the convention, the shopping and all the meet up fun that was had over the weekend.. Stephen spends most of the time whining since he was unable to attend any of it.

Geeks on Doctor Who : The Idiot’s Lantern, The Ood and Satan

This week we get a preview recap from Aric about the Gallifrey One convention, before we decide to hold off until we could get all the whovians together to do a proper recap ..

We jump into The Idiot’s Lantern .. and talk about the wire, how the TARDIS just takes over sometime and puts the doctor where he needs to be to solve the universe’s problems.

We also revel in the complexity of Dr. Who episodes, and the fact that the writers clearly love Alfred Hitchcock as much as we do, and Aric becomes a contrarian just to be a contrarian …

We then go off into the two parter, The Impossible Planet & The Satan Pit, where we meet the Ood and Aric falls asleep, but not before making a Roots reference regarding LeVar Burton, then Stephen rants about religion in Sci-Fi.

Enjoy the show, and until next time, Don’t Blink!
