This week on Expert Drinking Dr. Bill, Stephen & John delve back into the realm of Whiskey, specifically Single Malt Scotch .. Scothy Scotch Scotch.. We love Scotch.

We talk a bit about what makes a Single Malt Scotch, where they are created, and what the differences of some of these different Scotch’s are.

We taste three different regions, Highland, Islay, and Speyside and spend some time talking about the best way to nose, taste and enjoy this amazing beverage.

This week we head down to Vista, CA and visit Iron Fist Brewery. We hang out in the brewery and talk with Head Brewer Brandon Sieminski.

A young brewery with a young brewer, Iron Fist is brewing up some of the best beers that are on the market right now. After only 7 months, Iron Fist has taken the local San Diego scene by storm. Even Dr. Bill can barely contain his gushing over how much he loves this brewery.

On Master Pairings with Dr. Bill, we keep the theme going with Iron Fist’s Spice of Life paired with roasted pork, mashed potatoes, & green beans.

Brandon also brings out a unique treat for us to try out … a growler full of Gauntlet ( Iron Fist’s double IPA ) infused with Cherimoya. Cherimoya is a fruit that stays ripe for a brief moment.

This week we talk about episode 3 of season 6, The Curse of the Black Spot.

Stephen declares it filler, Aric loves it as much as a day at Disneyland, and Janet just hates pirates.

We all bemoan the lack of continuation with the over-arching story of the Silence, and the small child.

We all deal with our realization that Doctor Who is really a family style show, and therefore won’t ever really meet our wildest expectations, but still makes us very giddy each week!

We also speculate about next weeks episode The Doctor’s Wife, and how the title doesn’t mean what we think it means.

This week we’re back in Newport, at the Newport Beach Brewing Company, to hang out with Mel & Flash Gordon, the founders of TapHunter, a really cool application that allows you to find out what’s on tap at you’re local bar, providing the most up to date information as possible.

We drink Boneyard Red, a Double Dry Hopped Red Ale, with over a pound of East Kent Goldings in each keg with a nice caramel maltiness balance.

TapHunter is launching into the Orange County area, and are currently support 8 major areas in the United States.

This week, we welcome Janet back, talk Plurk speculation, and round out our discussion of the two-part season premier of Doctor Who with Day of the Moon.

We start off with Janet telling us about her recent trip to London and the Doctor Who Experience, while Stephen and Aric just sit jealously plotting her demise.

Stephen is full of complicated wild theories, Aric & Janet swoon over Rory in a suit and we all ponder the question .. who really shot JR? Oh wait, not that quesiton .. This question, who did River really kill?

We do discuss the Silence and how quickly they fell, Canton and his progressiveness, all things Amy, including the pregnancy, her true feelings for Rory and the Doctor.

We also pontificate on who this little girl is, and what part she has yet to play in the unfolding season, and if the doctor has figured out that he sent himself the invitation ..
