Geeks on Drinking : The History of Beer, part 1

This week on Expert Drinking we travel through time and explore the history of beer, the impact it had on early civilization.

We talk and speculate about the earliest beers, whether the Egyptians were possibly the first “macro brewers”, and how prayers to the goddess Ninkasi helped you brew better beers.

We also talk about Babylonians and the earliest governmental attempts to gain control over the love of beer, and King Midas and his golden touch.

We enjoy a couple of ancient ales from Dogfish Head Brewery. Stephen drinks Jiahu, an ancient Chinese fermented beverage recreated by Sam, and Bill drinks a 2008 Midas Touch.
