X-Men Origins: Wolverine – what can we expect?
Set pictures of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which has a release date of May 1, 2009, are starting to pop up on the net, with Wolverine in full World War II gear. Wolverine’s true age has always been a mystery, due to the long life given him by he regenerative abilities. What can we expect from the upcoming movie release?
Set seventeen years before X-Men, the film will focus on Wolverine’s violent past, and given the WWII scenes, the movie will likely include flashback sequences. The Weapon X program, and his early encounters with William Stryker, and his interactions with other mutants will be explored, including his complex relationship with Sabretooth / Victor Creed.
This Wolverine movie is going let us in on some of Logan’s missing memory. The relationship with Sabertooth and how that plays out is something that I really excited about seeing, since I was dissapointed with the complete lack of screen time Sabertooth got in the first movie. Since, we see him in army fatigues, it begs the question of whether they will include the time he spent in concentration camps, and whether we will see any “prequel” encounters with Magneto who also spent time in the camps.
From the information leaking out, it certainly looks to be shaping up to be a dang good movie, and will hopefully set the tone for the summer movie run in ’09.
