Guitar Hero released a trailer for the new GH4 game, and of course, we get to see the actual guitar.

Thankfully they have given up on the “sponsered” guitars like the Gibson from GH3 and the Fender from GH2. They have gone independent, it appears, with the style and personally I think it looks pretty cool.  It doesn’t look wireless which seems odd, given that we are moving into a wireless world.

Here is a closer picture.

I am looking forward to GH4, but not as much as I was Rockband.  If I was more creative and felt like I could create cool music online and upload it, I would probably be a lot more excited.

Free gas! Is it worth it?

Down here in Sunny Southern California, one of the local AM stations had a “Free Gas” extravaganza.  I wouldn’t have taken notice of it, except it happened to be close to my house, and in the middle of my commute, so I knew that traffic patterns would be jacked up for the rush hour drive to work.

You will notice that I didn’t mention any interest in said “free” gas.  Why you ask?  Good question sir.  Here comes the point of this post.. It is NOT worth it.   Look at a few facts

1. They were only giving away 10 gallons. Which quick math determines is about 40 bucks.

2. They were having this party from 6AM to 9AM, and only the first 400 people got it.

OK.  Now, take a step back and look at this situation with me.  If I made you the to get up and meet me on this corner a few miles from your house at 6 AM, and if you did I would give forty dollars.   Would you do it?  Maybe.  6AM is annoying, but hey it’s forty bucks.

OK.  New scenario, if I said, get up and meet me at 6AM and stand in line with 400 other people to get the 40 dollars.  Would you do it then?  Hmm.. not so much anymore.

Now, in this particular scenario that happened this morning, people showed up at this gas station as early at 3 AM.  Yep, you heard that right.  When I woke up, at 6:15, they were interviewing people who had been in line since 3 in the morning.  The best part, they were about 100 people back in the line.

At 7:30 they interviewed a woman who was starting to pump her 10 Gallons of “free” gas who had been in line since “3:15 or so”.  So, this woman, got up at Oh God Thirty in the morning, waited in line, with her car likely running, for 4 hours and 15 minutes, so that she could get 10 gallons of free gas.

Wow.

Please, someone tell me that society is really not this stupid.

Lately, more and more press is being given to the Mayan calenders that, some feel, predict that the world will end in 2012.

The Mayans knew something, because as it turns out on the winter solstice in the year 2012, for the first time in about 26,000 years, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way galaxy.  So the energy that typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will be altered, for good or ill, on December 21, 2012 at 11:11 p.m., the date when the Calendar’s “Long Count” will mark the end of a 5,126-year era, and perhaps the end of another long cycle of birth and destruction.

So, what’s a guy to do?  [ Roland Emmerich ] decided to make a movie about it and cast John Cusack..  Rock!

[ John Cusack ] has signed on to star in the apocalyptic thriller “2012”, which is starts off with the cataclysmic destruction of mankind, leaving just a few survivors.  This promises to be another Emmerich epic, big-budget, film extravaganza, ala “10,000 BC”, “The Day After Tomorrow”, and “Independence Day”

Shooting will begin in July in Los Angeles, barring a SAG strike.

Cusack, will be first be in the satire “War, Inc.,” which he also wrote and produced. He is currently shooting “Shanghai” for the Weinstein Co.
