My fellow geeks at the Galactica Watercooler have hit [ 100 podcasts ].. and celebrate we did.. I would have posted this earlier, but thought it would be best to leave it a “private party” with the current GWC’ers.
Galactica Watercooler, is in my opinion, single-handedly responsible for keeping the spirit and fire of BSG alive during it’s long break last year, and will certainly be doing the same during the mid-season break… so if you haven’t subscribed to their podcast, get over there NOW and do so.
Thanks guys for the great work you do, and keep it up!
Last night’s BSG was amazing…. Spoilers follow.
Guess What’s Coming to Dinner?
The title is a play on words, in reference to the 1967 interracial romance film “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” with actor Sidney Poitier.
Starting off with Baltar revealing to the fleet that Roslin has been sharing visions with the local cylons in fleet (Caprica 6 in holding and Athena). When Lee calls her on this, she displays her usual dictator attitude. “My actions are none of the fleets business”. Wow … really?!?!
Then we switch to what is, in my opinion, one of the best space flight scenes of the series. ( I am not including Galactica jump into hyperspace while in orbit of New Caprica ). The Base ship accidentally jumps into the fleet without the Demetrius and of course everyone blows a nut. Galactica launches the CAP and orders the fleet to execute an emergency jump to the rendevous point. So, the next scene shows vipers flying through the fleet while random ships are jumping… it was simply awesome.
Tigh, for some reason, senses that the base ship is not what it seems and countermands Adama order to fire. Just then the Demetrius shows up and let’s the fleet know that the base ship is really stocked with good guys…
Adama, and Roslin, are then informed about the Resurrection hub, and the fact that the Three’s (Deanna) where boxed and know who the final five are. Tigh is obviously concerned about the thought that everyone will soon know who they really are. Anders is dealing with his guilt over Gaeta losing his leg, Tory is dealing with Roslin finding out that she’s fracking Baltar… oops. :) Tyrol… well he is still just crazy.
Best line from Roslin to Tory :
“I don’t care if you have to spend the night on your knees praying, or just on your knees, I want a name”
We find out that Gaeta actually has a decent singing voice, and it is sad to think that he is dealing with something so massively traumatic, just because Anders could keep his gun in his pants.
Lee, once again whining to Laura and once again switching loyalties like the wind blows, talks to Roslin about the emptiness of the spirit of the Quorum and Roslin reminds him that while he may understand their suffering she holds their lives in the balance and has to make these tyranical decisions for their own benefit.
The rebel cylons ( on the rebel base .. Awesome) decide that they will double cross the humans as soon as they can, but since the humans already decided to double cross the cylon, you can’t really get too upset, or suprised, about it.
Laura then parades Natalie to the Quorom in an effort to shut them up and let her get back to making decisions for the betterment of the fleet. Natalie gives a pretty stirring speech about the need for death to understand the meaning of life. “Death makes you whole”… interesting philosophy.
Kara’s destiny is brought back into play, while she flashes back to the Hybrid telling her that she is the Harbinger of death and that the dying leader will know the truth of the opera house. So it appears that the Hybrid has been tivo’ing the visions that Laura is sharing with the Cylons.
Speaking of visions… Laura heads back to the opera house to find Hera, and freaks when Baltar invades the vision. Meanwhile, Hera creeps out her mom, and the rest of us, in real life.
Starbuck has a heart-to-heart with the president about the visions and lets her know that the hybrid has been tuning into the visions as well, and Laura figures she better get to the bottom of the visions before someone else does.
The rebel cylons realize that the final five are probably watching them, and since the regard them as godlike ( wait till they find what they really are.. LOL ) they are thinking that maybe they should double cross the humans, but since the raiders think for themselves it is pretty much too late to do anything else.
Hera’s been drawing obsessively drawing Sixes, and blond women … which pisses Athena off, and when Hera runs to the open arms of Natalie… well, you can about imagine the reaction.
Roslin takes a trip with Baltar to see the Hybrid , and plugs it back in …
Athena holds everyone off with her pistol, including Tigh, and asks Tyrol to take Hera. As soon as Hera is out of the way, Athena does work and blows Natalie away… Too bad, I like Tricia as a brunette.
Once the Hybrid comes online she goes into orgasmic jump mode and jumps the ship with Laura on board… I think we can all imagine how Bill will feel about that.
Show ends.. WOW! That was awesome.
I won’t go into the next week trailer, except to say that I distinctly saw Romo in the previews for next week… ROCK!
